IPTS (2013) STANDARD 9 - Professionalism, Leadership, and Advocacy - The competent teacher is an ethical and reflective practitioner who exhibits professionalism; provides leadership in the learning community; and advocates for students, parents or guardians, and the profession.

Description- For one of my Pal 2s I had the opportunity to Jury the 2024 Bloomington Highschool student art show. Me and 2 other people picked who would win first, second, and third in each category and we picked best in show.

Rational- My participation as a juror for the 2024 Bloomington High School student art show exemplifies my commitment to professionalism, leadership, and advocacy within the educational community. Firstly, by taking on the responsibility of jurying the art show, I demonstrate my dedication to upholding high standards of professionalism by contributing my expertise and judgment to the selection process. Moreover, my role as a juror provides clear evidence of my leadership within the learning community. As one of the decision-makers responsible for selecting winners in each category and determining the best in show, I assume a leadership role in recognizing and celebrating student achievements in the arts. My involvement in the selection process contributes to the overall success and prestige of the art show, highlighting my leadership abilities and my commitment to promoting excellence in student artwork. Furthermore, my participation as a juror serves as advocacy for students and their artistic endeavors. By carefully evaluating and selecting winners, I advocate for the recognition and appreciation of students' creative talents within the educational context. My involvement in the art show reinforces the importance of arts education and underscores the value of artistic expression in the lives of students. Overall, my participation as a juror for the Bloomington High School student art show demonstrates my embodiment of professionalism, leadership, and advocacy as an ethical and reflective practitioner, thereby meeting the expectations outlined in Standard 9 of the IPTS.
